Singapore Day 1: Night Safari and Mustafa Centre

Night Safari and Mustafa Centre


From Singapore Flyer, we boarded the Singapore Attractions Express (SAEx) shuttle to Night Safari. Though riding a regular bus is the cheapest option, the SAEx shuttle is still cheaper than hailing a taxi and more convenient. For only 4SGD per person, we can have a comfortable ride to Night Safari which is about 45 mins to 1 hour away from the city. I even managed to take a nap during the bus ride, hehe. :D

Night Safari was also celebrating Halloween so it was decked out with Halloween decorations like Singapore Flyer. It was a good thing though that we came on a weekday because on weekends, there would be Halloween characters to scare people riding the tram. That would be a big no-no for my mom who has a heart problem.

I really enjoyed the tram ride. The host, John, was very lively and was such a good speaker. Also, our group was lucky enough to hear the lions roar that day. Plus, some animals were close enough to us that if you reach out your hand, you can already touch them like the deers. I guess the only negative factor is that you cannot take pics since flash photography is not allowed.

Guests also have the option to go down the tram and do the walking trail but my mom and I were too tired to do that. Instead, we watched the creatures of the night show. It was very good and you should not miss the show if ever you come to Night Safari. :)

After Night Safari, we asked the driver of the SAEx shuttle if he can drop us off at Mustafa Centre, a 24 hours mall. We looked for a good brand of perfume to give to my aunt and we also got to buy some Merlion chocolates as pasalubong. There were also some cheap keychain sets and t-shirts there. :) Even though we left Mustafa Centre at around 12:30 AM, the area still seemed safe as it is well lit and there were plenty of people. We were already very, very tired by that time so we just hailed a cab back to the hostel. I think the driver was shocked that the hostel was so near yet we hailed a cab. Well, we did not know that it was just near the hostel and our tired feet were already complaining, hehe. :D

So that ends our 1st day in Singapore. I am already sleepy at this point so I will continue to blog the 2nd day tomorrow. TTFN! ^_^
